A 'random' stabbing at a Michigan Walmart leaves 11 people hurt, authorities say. So far, this is what we know.
This is the latest about the stabbing of a Traverse City Walmart:
On Saturday, July 26, 2025, a man went into the Walmart in Traverse City (Garfield Township, northern Michigan) around 4.43 p.m. and stabbed shoppers using a folding knife close to a checkout station.
The perpetrator is a 42 year-old man of Michigan who was a lone actor.
It resulted in 11 stabbed victims who were presumably randomly chosen.
There are six victims in critical condition, five in serious condition with all of them under care at Munson Medical Center in Traverse City.
The Grand Traverse County Sheriff Office said that a deputy responded a few minutes later and with the help of surrounding customers was able to arrest the suspect. Civilians were also used to take care of the wounded.
Michigan Governor Gretchen Whitmer tweeted her condolences and commended the initial efforts of the first responders. FBI is also providing investigative assistance.
