🔥 Major Heat Alerts & News Breaking
The late-summer forecasts echo a high risk of heat:
1. The Central and Eastern United States have been hit by a so-called life-threatening heat dome.
The system is the width of the Mississippi and Ohio Valleys, and the thickness, brought about by the warm air becoming trapped above the cold surface, has been enhanced by moisture emitted by the vast corn fields of the area.
As a result, over 85 million local citizens have been experiencing heat-index levels of 105-115F.
2. Health warnings and advisories are consequently being released at a large scale.
The people in affected regions are advised to guard against hyperthermia by reducing time outdoors, finding cool places, and observing their health conditions.
3. In the middle of June, about 128 million inhabitants across the United States were put under heat advisory. Central Park (~99Â degrees F) and Boston/Newark were some of the places where the highs exceeded their June records.
4. NWS HeatRisk Map: Heat wave moving north and east
According to a National Weather Service map describing a potential of a heat wave, it will reach the Mississippi Valley, the Ohio Valley, the Great Lakes and ultimately the East Coast later in the week. During the same period, over 80 million are under Heat Advisories, Watches, or Warnings.
5. Starting today and lasting until Thursday, the people of Jacksonville are facing an extreme heat advisory by the National Weather Service.
