During her campaign kick-off, Rodriguez called President Donald Trump a “maniac,” attacking his tariffs for hurting farmers and his policies for hurting children.
Rodriguez presented her candidacy through the prism of her own professional experience in healthcare and expressed her priorities, such as reproductive rights, investment in public education, extension of Medicaid, and economic revival.
By becoming a governor, she would become the first female governor in Wisconsin. Milwaukee County Executive David Crowley, another Democrat, is poised to enter the contest, potentially making the state of Wisconsin have the first Black governor.
